## Appendix A : Transaction Result Codes

* **APPROVED** - The transaction has been approved and will result in a financial outcome for the merchant and the customer.
* **DECLINED** - The transaction was actively declined. No financial impact for the customer or merchant.
* **REVERSED** - The transaction was approved and then reversed. No net financial impact for the customer or merchant, although the customer may see items appear in their statement.
* **CANCELLED** - The transaction was cancelled before any attempt to process the transaction was made. There will be no financial impact to the customer or merchant.
* **SYSTEM ERROR** - There was a serious system error in the terminal. There may have been financial impact to the customer, depending on the state of the transaction at the time the error occurred.
